Job summary

The Salvation Army in Dallas is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to assist clients through emotional, informational, instrumental, and affiliation supports while modeling personal recovery.

You will participate in a multi-disciplinary team, facilitate peer-led and wellness groups, help clients with housing, employment, and community integration, and maintain case records in HMIS. The role requires adherence to the organization’s Christian principles and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Services, one of the Behavioral Sciences, or related field.
• One year progressively responsible experience working with substance use, mental health or co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care in a multi-disciplinary team using CTI methods.
• Attend weekly case and staff meetings.
• Assist clients in working with their treatment team to achieve recovery goals.
• Facilitate peer led groups, wellness groups, life skills groups, and support vocational exploration.
• Maintain case records and HMIS data with accuracy.
