Job summary

Self-Help Federal Credit Union in Asheville, NC is seeking a Universal Banker to deliver exceptional member service, handle cash, and support lending and daily branch operations.

You will open new accounts, assist with consumer loans, and promote credit union products to meet members' needs, including potential mortgage referrals. This role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and flexibility for evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in retail banking.
• Experience in cash handling and opening accounts.
• Strong commitment to mission and teamwork.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Fluent English; Spanish preferred.
• Willingness to travel to cover other branches and work evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and provide prompt, friendly service; promote products.
• Open new membership accounts; respond to inquiries by phone, email, or in person.
• Handle account transactions and MSR duties, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
• Refer mortgage loan requests to Mortgage Loan Assistants or Mortgage Loan Officers.
• Maintain cash drawers and vault responsibilities as needed.
• Support business development and community outreach activities.
• Perform administrative tasks and record-keeping; file daily reports.
• Assist branch management and supervise MSR staff in absence of supervisors.
