Posting Context Statement: The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at theUniversity of Idaho is seeking a Communications Strategist III tojoin our team. This position is vital in enhancing ourcommunication efforts, promoting our programs, and engaging ourstakeholders.

Position Overview: The position serves as the chief content and channels strategistfor a unit or multiple units advising on and developing internaland external messaging strategy. They will serve as the unit'sliaison for leveraging and activating strategies in partnershipwith University Communications & Marketing (UCM) and willadvance the university's brand strategy through the unit lens. Theincumbent understands, coordinates, and leverages centralcommunication and marketing initiatives into the unit as applicableand contributes to the university's broader content strategy.

Duties may include:
  • Advance the unit's reputation through public relationsstrategies that drive purposeful messaging and engagement insupport of the unit's strategic goals, priorities andinitiatives
  • Provide communications and marketing leadership in a variety ofpriorities across a variety of areas
  • Write and edit a variety of content in digital and printformats
  • Identifying and executing marketing opportunities withing theuniversity marketing strategy
  • Attend UCM meetings as a contributor and as a representative ofthe unit
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
  • Four years of experience in marketing, communications,journalism or public relations experience
  • Using market analysis and measurement to drive strategy
  • Building communication strategies targeted at specificaudiences through multiple channels
  • Managing multiple projects with competing deadlines thatrequire accuracy and attention to detail
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or PublicRelations; four additional years of experience (for a total ofseven) may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree
Required Other:
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours including weekends, holidaysand evening hours for scheduled recruitment and retentionevents
Additional Preferred:
  • Experience producing and editing informational and persuasivecollateral
  • Experience developing, executing, and measuring impact ofmarketing and communications plans and initiatives to achieveorganizational goals, such as enrollment targets
  • Established record of collaboration and excellent interpersonaland communication skills with internal and externalconstituents
  • Ability to translate technical or specialized information forpublic use and understanding
  • Experience in media relations
