Job summary

University of Idaho's University Honors Program seeks a Program Specialist to coordinate and manage key areas of the Honors Program in Moscow. The role supports operational, programmatic and strategic efforts to promote student success, retention and recruitment, including curricular experiences, admissions, scholarships and alumni relations.

The position requires three years of relevant experience, effective communication, and ability to work non-standard hours.

Qualifications

  • Composing, proofreading and editing a variety of documents with proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Using computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, email and internet research.

Posting Context Statement

The Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing key areas of the University Honors Program. This position supports operational, programmatic and strategic support promoting student success, retention and recruitment. The position covers coordination and delivery of curricular learning experiences; student recruitment, applications, admissions and scholarships; marketing and communication, alumni relations and support of the Honors Program Faculty Fellows and other areas.

Position Overview

This position performs a complex mix of duties in support of project or program development and delivery.

Duties
  • Coordinate office operations
  • Document and tracking program schedules and business cycles
  • Plan and coordinate program meetings and events
  • Support program planning and may assist with the development of operating budgets and/or funding proposals
  • Research and compile information for communications such as talking points, speech scripts and responses to correspondence and presentations
  • Coordinate collection of data and materials for reports and other administrative documents
  • Develop and maintain positive liaison relationships with offices, customers and stakeholders including internal and advisory boards
  • May assist with budget management and provide support for financial and/or personnel processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's Degree Previous experience working with Honors or high-achieving students in a university setting and/or delivering student-centered customer service Experience recruiting and advising students Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, supervisors, co-workers and the public Ability to exercise good judgment and effective decision-making Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, alumni and external partners to advance the mission of the University Honors Program Knowledge of university policies, procedures and software, such as Banner, Slate, Vandalstar Management of records and common computer applications/software such as Microsoft Excel, Power Point, etc Oral and written communication skills

Must be able to lift, carry or otherwise move up to 30 pounds
