Qualifications

  • Preferred: experience in collegiate athletics, working with coaching staffs, strong writer and copy editor, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.

Posting Context Statement | The Director of Athletic Communications reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and is responsible for all communications, media relations and publicity activities for the Department of Athletics, including assigned sports. The position is expected to provide and maximize positive exposure of the University of Idaho, its athletics programs, events, student‑athletes, coaches and staff.

Position Overview | The position ensures effective external communication, branding and messaging by leading and collaborating on communication efforts within the Department of Athletics and across campus. This position advances the reputation of Idaho Vandal Athletics, the University of Idaho, and assigned unit(s) through purposeful and creative messaging. The position will work in a collaborative environment with Department of Athletics staff, teams, coaches, student‑athletes and partners on and off campus to create impactful communications. This position will act within all NCAA, Big Sky Conference, HIPAA, FERPA and university rules, laws and requirements.
