Job summary

Power Placement Partner seeks a Commissioning Team Lead in Charlotte or Atlanta to oversee projects, develop staff, and grow its commissioning practice. The role blends hands-on technical work with leadership, client relationships, and business development.

The ideal candidate will have substantial commissioning experience, strong HVAC knowledge, and the ability to mentor staff while guiding project execution.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in building commissioning and strong HVAC/mechanical systems knowledge.
• Experience leading commissioning projects and coordinating technical teams.
• Hands-on understanding of functional performance testing, controls sequences, troubleshooting, and commissioning documentation.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, and TAB reports.
• Strong client communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Experience developing proposals, defining scopes, and managing project budgets.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning projects from planning through execution, testing, and final documentation.
• Develop commissioning plans, specs, checklists, test procedures, and final reports.
• Review drawings, equipment submittals, and sequences of operation for performance concerns.
• Conduct field observations, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of corrective work.
• Evaluate building systems interactions and coordinate with contractors to resolve deficiencies.
• Maintain issue logs and track items through resolution.
• Support building turnover, operator training, and documentation of system performance.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring for commissioning staff.
• Coordinate project assignments, staffing, schedules, and deliverables.
• Establish standardized processes for fieldwork, reporting, and client service.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to deliver integrated solutions.
