Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Commissioning Agent to lead HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems from design through owner turnover. The role requires coordinating with owners, designers, and contractors to ensure design intent and performance.

Travel up to 50% is expected; you’ll mentor technicians and build momentum toward managing a growing team. Certification and strong documentation skills are essential for success with our multidisciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience commissioning HVAC, refrigeration, or other electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and refrigeration system components (RTUs, chillers, boilers, VAV, controls).
• Comfortable onsite with up to 50% overnight travel.
• Ability to perform design reviews and read construction documents/specifications.
• Strong technical writing and client communication skills.
• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), CxA, or BCxP certification.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Bluebeam or similar PDF markup tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning efforts for HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems from design review through owner turnover.
• Perform design reviews and review shop drawings to ensure OPR and Basis of Design conformance.
• Review commissioning documents and field reports; verify accuracy before final sign-off.
• Execute functional performance testing using data loggers and tools to verify control sequences.
• Consult with owners, designers, and contractors to resolve issues and confirm requirements.
• Mentor commissioning technicians and contribute to team quality standards.
