Job summary

Arbour Speciality LLC is seeking an Associate Underwriter to support underwriting teams in evaluating risks for new and renewal customers. The role emphasizes building relationships with independent agents and assisting with quoting and approvals for new accounts.

The Associate Underwriter will apply sound judgment to help grow the book of business while minimizing risk and ensuring a profitable portfolio. Collaboration with underwriters and agents will be essential to success.

Qualifications

• Commercial Lines underwriting or customer service experience.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Strong computer aptitude with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Experience in a fast-paced independent agency setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive working relationships with agents through various modes of communication: telephone, email, faxes, and in-person.
• Assist agents with quoting and approving new accounts.
• Process cancellations, endorsements, and renewals while adhering to company policy and state regulations.
• Gather necessary information from agents and insureds (e.g. loss runs, loss control recommendations, supplemental info).
• Make entries as required in underwriting systems to ensure data accuracy.
