Job summary

Sigma Computing seeks a Manager, Commercial Solution Engineering in San Francisco. You will lead a Commercial Solution Engineering team, coaching SEs and partnering with Sales, CS, Product, and Marketing to drive data access and business outcomes.

This role blends technical leadership with people management in a fast-growing SaaS environment. You will coach, recruit, and develop talent, maintain a strong hiring pipeline, and represent the SE function in cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years in Solution/Sales engineering, BI analytics or data platforms
• 1-5 years directly managing a technical or customer-facing team
• Strong data background with SQL and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
• Customer relationship skills and collaboration with sales leadership to grow revenue
• Comfort presenting to VP/C-level audiences
• Experience building hiring pipelines
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent
• Willingness to travel 25%

Responsibilities

• Hire, ramp, and coach a team of Commercial Solution Engineers, delivering timely feedback
• Build individual development plans and leadership paths for SEs
• Maintain a warm candidate bench and proactive hiring pipeline
• Join discovery calls, demos, roadmaps, and executive briefings as needed
• Partner with Commercial sales, CS, and partner channel to grow revenue
• Represent SE in forecast, pipeline, and deal strategy discussions
• Coach teams to anchor engagements in customer problems and outcomes
• Collaborate with Product and Marketing to feed roadmap and messaging
• Align with cross-functional partners across Sigma
• Set and meet quarterly and annual team objectives
• Ensure responses (RFP/RFI, technical, security) meet Sigma's bar
• Manage day-to-day team operations like capacity planning and performance management
• Foster a culture of coaching and development
