Position Summary

The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining borrowing relationships. This position involves developing new and existing business through calling programs and cross-selling of Bank services. Key responsibilities include maintaining loan quality and generating fee income. The Relationship Manager approves loans within their authority and presents loans for approval at various committees. They also manage their current loan portfolio. This position reports to the Market President; an RM I can report to an RM II if designated by the Market President. The Market President may also determine a need for a manager of people role.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Develop new business and prospects, generating business loans through referrals, business calls, and community involvement.
  2. Analyze customers’ financial data, structure and negotiate credit transactions, and perform ongoing credit management.
  3. Service existing customer relationships to maximize profitability.
  4. Pursue repayment of loans and contact customers with past due or overdrawn accounts.
  5. Detect early signs of problem loans and generate reports for management of weak and criticized loans.
  6. Assist other lines of business with business development.
  7. For applicable roles, the Commercial Market President may assign a Team Lead designation for a Relationship Manager II, including duties such as serving as a resource and acting as a trainer/coach.
Education & Experience
Knowledge Of
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong sales and customer service skills
Ability To
  • Generate revenue at levels specified for Level I and II
  • Analyze and interpret numerical data
  • Solve complex problems and make decisions based on extensive knowledge and technical concepts
  • Make independent decisions within bank policies
  • Develop new procedures and approaches
  • Perform duties under time pressure
Education And Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 2 years of banking, finance, or sales experience
  • Minimum 6 months credit analysis experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
