Job summary

Genuine Search Group is seeking a Commercial Property Accountant for a prominent real estate owner/operator in New Jersey. The role ensures accuracy of client contracts, receivables, and related financial records in line with contract terms and company procedures.

You will review agreements, configure billing terms, monitor renewals, process invoices, and prepare month-end close and portfolio-level reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards).
• Strong analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review client agreements and configure billing terms in the accounting system.
• Monitor portfolio contract log for renewals, expirations, and price adjustments.
• Process recurring invoices, fee escalations, and monthly client statements.
• Serve as main point of contact for client billing inquiries and resolve ledger discrepancies.
• Calculate and reconcile annual shared operating costs, insurance, and tax recoveries.
• Account for incentives, credits, and deferred revenue per ASC 842.
• Prepare month-end close schedules, aging analyses, and portfolio-level reports.
• Post journal entries, manage expense accruals, and audit the general ledger.
• Provide strategic reporting support to CFO and exec team.
• Monitor aging receivables and follow up on past-due balances.
• Coordinate with legal counsel to issue collection notices for delinquent accounts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all client contract activity, receivables, and related financial records are accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with contract terms and company procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Review client agreements and configure billing terms, schedules, rate adjustments, and fee details in the accounting system.
• Monitor the portfolio contract log for renewals, expirations, and price adjustments, updating financial records as client terms change.
• Process recurring invoices, fee escalations, shared expense billbacks, and monthly client statements.
• Serve as the main point of contact for client billing inquiries and resolve ledger discrepancies.
• Calculate and reconcile annual shared operating costs, insurance, and tax recoveries for portfolio clients, leveraging automated accounting systems.
• Account for client incentives, credits, and deferred revenue schedules in compliance with standard accounting principles (e.g., ASC 842).
