Job summary

Genuine Search Group is assisting a real estate investment firm in finding a Senior Property Accountant for its NYC portfolio. The role emphasizes accurate accruals, journal entries, and detailed GL analysis to support multi-property finance and lender interactions.

You will collaborate with asset managers, leasing, and property managers, preparing budgets and assisting in audits. A Bachelor's in Accounting and real estate experience are preferred, with strong organizational and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
• Experience in public accounting or real estate private sector preferred.
• Knowledge of Yardi or MRI software is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting duties for a portfolio of commercial properties in NYC.
• Prepare accrual financials for assigned portfolio and monthly journal entries.
• Analyze the general ledger for each property and maintain detailed workpapers.
• Review results of operations and explain variances.
• Review invoices for correct coding and expense allocations.
• Manage CAM (Common Area Maintenance) related tasks.
• Prepare reconciliations of cash accounts, reserves, and escrows.
• Monitor cash balances and coordinate capital funding as needed.
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers.
• Assist in resolving tenant billing inquiries with AR and legal teams.
• Respond to lender inquiries as needed.
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances or sales.
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast.

Our client, a real estate investment firm with a large portfolio of commercial and multifamily properties as well as data centers, is seeking a strong Senior Property Accountant. The position offers a collaborative, supportive culture and significant opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee accounting duties for a portfolio of commercial properties in NYC
• Prepare accrual financials for assigned portfolio
• Analyze the general ledger for each property, prepare journal entries, calculate accruals and adjustments and maintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis
• Review results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variances
• Review invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocations
• Responsible for Common Area Maintenance (CAM)
• Prepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrows
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding, as needed
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers
• Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
• Respond to lender inquiries, as needed
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of properties
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast
• Serve as the main contact for annual audits and tax return preparation

Requirements Include:
