Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking a skilled plumber to assemble, install and repair piping systems across campus facilities. You will study plans, determine installation sequences, and ensure adherence to codes while maintaining ongoing maintenance schedules.

The role requires knowledge of building codes, 5+ years’ experience in commercial plumbing, valid driver's license, and a readiness to respond to emergencies and on-call rotations. Must have own tools and transportation to GCU sites.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater disposal for commercial buildings.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Experience using tools, power tools and equipment related to plumbing systems.
  • Must be physically able to move around campus and perform daily maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures according to codes.
  • Inspects structures to avoid obstructions and ensure integrity before installation.
  • Reads plans and determines required work aids and installation sequence.
  • Locates pipe positions and cuts openings for pipes in walls and floors.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures and water heaters.
  • Complies with safety and environmental requirements.
