Job summary

United Community is seeking a Commercial Loan Assistant to support Commercial Relationship Managers in the lending process. The role involves collecting and organizing information for risk assessment, assisting with underwriting, and coordinating with loan closers to ensure smooth closings.

You will interact with internal teams and external customers, handling documentation, compliance tasks, and ongoing loan administration with a focus on accuracy and responsiveness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of credit or customer service experience in financial services.
• Commercial loan experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Working knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide sales and administrative assistance to Commercial Relationship Managers (CRM) and other partners.
• Support new and renewed loan production by collecting, ordering, and tracking information required for underwriting (e.g., UCC searches, appraisals, environmental assessments, Know Your Customer, surveys, leases, organizational documents, insurance, beneficial ownership, OFAC).
• Assist with preparation of written communications on behalf of the CRM (commitment letters, term sheets, etc.).
• Complete the Credit Lens Loan Worksheet and coordinate with the Commercial Loan Closer.
• Monitor reporting and identify actions needed (maturities, auto-renew LCs, insurance, real estate taxes).
• Provide outstanding service to internal and external customers; collect financial statements as required and load to Credit Lens.
• Collaborate on loan closings with CRM, Loan Closers, Underwriter, Doc Prep, and outside counsel; collect executed documents.
• Submit customer maintenance requests to Loan Operations; transfer and assign notes; manage disbursement requests with Construction Administration; complete Post-Close tasks and maintain WIP files.
• Resolve critical and material exceptions; participate in compliance training and bank leadership programs; adhere to corporate policies.
