Job summary

Acuity is seeking a Commercial Lines Consultant to monitor and ensure underwriting guidelines and practices are consistently applied. The role includes audits, training program development, and cross-functional collaboration to improve operations and strategic direction.

The candidate will be a key knowledge resource for guidelines, risk assessment, and coverage interpretation, with some travel and a strong emphasis on professional conduct and company values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or extensive direct experience in underwriting.
• 3-5 years experience in commercial multi-line property and casualty underwriting.
• Knowledge of sound underwriting practices and best practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to adapt to changing conditions and prioritize tasks.
• Local to HQ in Sheboygan preferred, remote candidates considered.

Responsibilities

• Uphold best practices and consistency in underwriting through audits and ensure uniform standards.
• Create and conduct training programs for new hires and existing employees; develop materials.
• Serve as a knowledge resource on guidelines, risk assessment, and coverage interpretation.
• Partner with management to implement policy changes across underwriting, claims, products, or systems.
• Develop and maintain reference materials supporting best practices.
• Monitor external trends and incorporate into Acuity practices.
• Participate in project work including product innovation and process improvement.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude and uphold Acuity’s values.
