Job summary

NJM Insurance Group in Trenton, NJ is offering a 2027 Paid Summer Intern Program in Commercial Lines Underwriting. The intern will support pricing analysis, renewal meetings, and information gathering from industry sources while learning from the underwriting team.

The program includes leadership lunches, seminars, and networking events to build professional skills and immerse you in the insurance industry.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a sophomore in a four-year Risk Management & Insurance program.
• Requires a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process pricing analysis for large Commercial Lines policies in preparation for renewals.
• Participate in policy renewal meetings and assist in determining adequate pricing based on overall risk performance.
• Assist underwriters with gathering information on new business submissions, including reports from Dun and Bradstreet, OSHA, SAFER, and perform google and media searches.
• Monitor adverse experience and assigned risk reports to determine if any action is needed.
• Participate in weekly Underwriting meetings.
• Assist in execution of process improvement initiatives.
• Support other ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.

Intern Fun: Night at the Trenton Thunder Game Volunteer activities to give back to the community in which we serve Networking and social events with fellow interns, former interns, and leaders Overview: We are looking for a motivated and dynamic summer intern to learn and assist the Commercial Lines Underwriting department. The intern will work closely with the Underwriting team performing business-focus projects and tasks, propose ideas and contribute ways to grow and improve our strategic goals.

• Monitor adverse experience and assigned risk favorable reports to determine if any action needs to be taken
• Participate in weekly Underwriting meetings
• Assist in execution of process improvement initiatives
• Support other ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a sophomore in a four-year bachelor’s degree Risk Management & Insurance Program.
• Requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Demonstrate analytical, verbal and communication skills
• Track record of taking initiative and managing multiple competing priorities
• Commutable to our West Trenton, New Jersey office.

The Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern position can pay up to $22 hour. Starting Rate: $21
