Commercial Insurance Business Analyst Consultant

Our consultancy is seeking highly motivated Business Analysts with a background in the insurance industry. We desire peak performers passionate about business, problem-solving, and dedicated work ethic.

This role is for a seasoned Business Analyst supporting our client in Garden City, NY. It is a remote position requiring availability during eastern standard time hours. The candidate should possess a thorough understanding of commercial lines insurance operations, especially P & C Insurance claims processing, and be capable of creating business and technical documentation to support system implementation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist project/ program manager in monitoring and coordinating system implementations, applying project management principles.
• Lead requirements analysis, validation, and verification, ensuring documentation is complete, consistent, and clear.
• Use various techniques to elicit requirements, including interviews, surveys, workshops, and analysis.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to define and document requirements in line with standards.
• Recommend improvements to existing business processes.
• Facilitate business planning and prioritize requirements based on business value.
• Develop test plans, matrices, and criteria for quality assurance and acceptance testing.
• Perform quality assurance testing of system deliverables.
• Create training materials and conduct training sessions for new systems or enhancements.
• Support Help Desk in issue resolution related to business systems.
• Develop RFI/RFP documentation and analyze vendor responses.
• Perform data analysis as needed.
• Lead internal and external teams as necessary.

Skills

• At least 7 years of experience as a business analyst, supporting claims systems implementations.
• Bachelor's degree in business or technical field preferred; applicable certifications (CPCU, PMI-PBA, IIBA) are a plus.
• Deep knowledge of insurance industry, especially Claims, Underwriting, and Financial operations in Commercial P&C, Professional Liability, or Workers Compensation lines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks.
• Prior insurance operations experience, especially with claims, is required.
• Knowledge of insurance needs for municipalities and educational organizations is advantageous.
