Our client is looking to add an accomplished Senior Commercial Casualty Claims Manager to its Tennessee-based claims operation. This leadership opportunity is well-suited for a seasoned claims professional who brings extensive technical expertise, sound judgment, and a proven ability to lead and develop a team.

The individual selected will play an important role in directing day-to-day claims activities, overseeing complex and high-exposure losses, and ensuring consistent, high-quality claim outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of property and casualty exposures, including general liability, automobile liability, bodily injury, and catastrophic losses.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee a team of claims professionals responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving property and casualty claims.
• Serve as a technical resource on challenging claims involving substantial property damage, serious bodily injury, wrongful death, and complex liability matters.
• Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development to strengthen individual and team performance.
• Evaluate claim files to ensure thorough investigations, accurate coverage interpretations, appropriate reserves, and effective resolution strategies.
• Oversee litigated matters and collaborate with external legal counsel on case strategy, negotiations, mediations, and settlements.
• Maintain accountability for claim quality, pending inventories, productivity, and overall departmental performance.
• Assess financial exposures and guide appropriate reserving and settlement decisions.
• Promote consistent application of claims procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Identify opportunities to enhance operational workflows, control claim costs, and improve overall results.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Casualty claims, including exposure to complex and high-severity losses.
• 3–5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience supervising, managing, or directing claims professionals.
• Strong technical background in general liability, automobile liability, property damage, bodily injury, and catastrophic claims.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating significant financial exposures, including severe injury, wrongful death, and large property losses.
• Advanced understanding of claim investigations, policy interpretation, liability assessment, reserving, negotiations, and litigation management.
• Experience directing outside defense counsel and developing effective litigation and settlement strategies.
• Proven ability to manage team performance, establish expectations, and provide meaningful coaching and development.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
• Public entity, governmental liability, municipal claims, risk pool, or self-insured claims experience is highly desirable.
• Base Salary: $130,000 – $175,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
