First Merchants Corporation in Indianapolis, IN is offering a 12-week paid Summer Internship Program for college students. The Commercial Banking Intern will gain hands-on experience in credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and portfolio management while supporting relationship banking and sales activities.

Interns participate in loan committees, interact with senior leadership, complete a community service project, and present learnings at the program end.

Qualifications

• Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17 – August 6, 2027.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be able and willing to travel periodically within the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Learn roles within commercial banking and products/services for commercial customers.
• Gain skills in credit risk assessment, financial data analysis, portfolio management, and team-based credit decisions.
• Learn the commercial banking sales cycle, relationship banking, and whole-bank selling techniques.
• Attend loan committees and participate in opportunity memorandum discussions.
• Partner with relationship managers on prospecting activities and client calls.
