Job summary

First Merchants Corporation, headquartered in Indianapolis, invites college students to apply for its 12-week paid Summer Internship Program for 2027.

Interns will gain hands-on experience across business areas such as Credit Administration, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Risk, Operations and more; must be full-time degree-seeking students, with 40 hours/week May 17 – August 6, 2027.

Qualifications

• Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17th - August 6th, 2027.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
• Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Learn the roles within commercial banking and the products and services the bank provides to commercial customers.
• Gain skills in assessing credit risk, analyzing financial data, portfolio management, and the team-based credit decision process.
• Learn the commercial banking sales cycle, relationship banking, whole-bank selling techniques, and commercial banking sales management.
