Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska is looking for an Insurance Agent to blend customer service, sales, and underwriting for commercial auto coverage. You will quote, explain options, and guide customers through purchase and ongoing policy management.

The role requires strong communication and a base level of math skills, with 1+ year in a professional, customer-facing role. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. This is an on-site Omaha position with robust benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
• 1+ years of professional work experience.
• 2+ years in a customer-facing role, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Basic mathematical skills and comfort with pricing and financial information.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Insurance industry knowledge preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist prospective and existing customers with commercial auto insurance needs through inbound sales and service interactions.
• Evaluate risks, determine classifications and coverage structures, and develop pricing per guidelines.
• Prepare quotes, explain coverage and pricing options, answer questions, and guide policy purchases.
• Use company systems and data to gather information, assess risk, and support pricing decisions.
• Explain coverages, terms, endorsements, billing options, and payment processes clearly.
• Help customers complete electronic payments and establish recurring EFT or credit card arrangements.
• Partner with underwriting and other teams to address endorsements and pricing questions.
• Identify issues outside authority and escalate when needed.
• Participate in underwriting quality reviews to ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Support testing of rating, quoting, policy administration, and other systems.
• Participate in business development and marketing activities, including events as needed.
• Demonstrate a collaborative, customer-focused team environment with accuracy and confidentiality.
