Insite Group in New York is seeking a Commercial Audit Senior Associate to manage engagements end-to-end for a diverse client portfolio, owning relationships and budgets. The role offers exposure to partners and a clear path toward management within a growing practice.
You'll plan, lead fieldwork, coach juniors, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and auditing standards. Hybrid work options with NYC, Long Island, or New Jersey offices.
If you're a few busy seasons into your career and starting to think your next move should be about more than a slightly bigger number, this one is worth a proper look.
I'm working with a well-established, nationally recognised firm that is investing seriously in its commercial assurance practice. They're looking to bring in a Commercial Audit Senior Associate who wants genuine ownership of client relationships, not just the fieldwork - the kind of role that tends to be filled quietly through referrals in the more interesting corners of public accounting.
The position is based in New York, with the option to work from offices on Long Island or in northern New Jersey if that suits your commute better. The team works a hybrid pattern of roughly three days a week in the office, and they mean it.
The role
As Commercial Audit Senior Associate, you'll run engagements end to end for a varied portfolio of privately held and listed commercial clients - manufacturing, distribution, technology, real estate and consumer businesses among them. You'll plan the work, own the budget and be the person the client's finance team calls first.
It's also a role with a clear line of sight to manager. The commercial practice is growing, promotion is genuinely from within, and people who step up here tend to move up quickly. You'll get exposure to partners early, a real say in how engagements are shaped, and the chance to help build the team around you.
What you'll be doing
- Leading audit and review engagements from planning through to sign-off, keeping the work on time and on budget
- Acting as the day-to-day contact for client finance teams and building relationships that last beyond year-end
- Scoping engagements, setting budgets and tracking progress against them
- Coaching and reviewing the work of associates, and helping shape how junior colleagues develop
- Spotting risks and technical issues early and working them through with managers and partners
- Contributing to proposals and pitches for new commercial clients
- Keeping on top of developments in US GAAP and auditing standards and sharing that knowledge across the team
What we're looking for
- At least three years' experience in public accounting, with a solid grounding in audit and assurance
- CPA qualified, or exam-eligible and actively working towards it
- Confidence leading fieldwork and supervising junior team members
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and auditing standards
- Clear, personable communication - as comfortable with CFOs and controllers as with your own team
- Exposure to SEC registrants or PCAOB-regulated audits would be a real advantage
- Experience across sectors such as manufacturing, technology or real estate would be helpful, though not essential
What's on offer
- Base salary of $115,000 - $140,000, plus a discretionary performance bonus
- Hybrid working - around three days a week in the office, with a choice of New York, Long Island or New Jersey locations
- Comprehensive benefits, including health cover and a retirement plan with employer contribution
- Paid CPA exam support and study time for anyone still completing the qualification
- A defined route to manager, backed by structured training and a collaborative, down-to-earth culture
- A broad, well-known client base and a firm with real standing in public accounting - the kind of platform that keeps your CV moving in the right direction
