Ready for a Senior Audit Role with More Influence?

An established national CPA and advisory firm is looking for an experienced Senior Audit Manager to join its growing assurance practice, with a particular focus on construction and commercial clients.

This opportunity is suited to someone who has developed a strong technical audit background and now wants greater ownership of client relationships, engagement delivery and team development.

You’ll work directly with senior leadership, oversee complex engagements and have the opportunity to play an important role in the continued development of the practice.

Rather than simply managing audit deadlines, you’ll be trusted to make decisions, advise clients and help develop the next generation of audit professionals.

The Opportunity

You’ll take responsibility for a portfolio of assurance engagements, managing everything from initial planning through to final delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage complex audit and review engagements.

  • Oversee engagement planning, staffing, scheduling and budgets.

  • Work closely with Partners on client engagements and technical matters.

  • Evaluate internal controls and identify potential audit risks.

  • Review audit programs, workpapers and supporting documentation.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures and management letters.

  • Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues.

  • Ensure engagements comply with relevant professional standards.

  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients.

  • Monitor engagement profitability and manage client expectations.

  • Maintain strong relationships with business owners and senior financial stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Development

An important part of this position will be helping develop and support the wider assurance team.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supervising Managers, Seniors and Associates across engagements.

  • Providing technical guidance and reviewing team members’ work.

  • Coaching junior professionals and supporting their career development.

  • Delivering internal training and technical discussions.

  • Providing performance feedback and contributing to staff evaluations.

  • Supporting improvements to engagement processes and overall audit quality.

  • Working with Partners on resource planning and team development.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of public accounting experience.

  • Active CPA licence required.

  • Strong technical understanding of US GAAP and GAAS.

  • Previous experience planning and supervising audits and large review engagements.

  • Strong financial statement preparation and review skills.

  • Ability to research and resolve technical accounting issues.

  • Previous experience supervising and developing audit professionals.

  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.

  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.

  • Experience with professional audit and accounting software.

Experience working with construction companies or other commercial businesses would be particularly relevant.

Exposure to Employee Benefit Plan audits or Single Audits would also be advantageous, although not essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the opportunity to take on a senior leadership role within an established assurance practice while continuing to develop your technical and commercial experience.

The firm offers:

  • Base salary of $150,000 – $170,000.

  • Discretionary annual bonus.

  • Hybrid working arrangements.

  • Exposure to construction and commercial clients.

  • Direct collaboration with Partners and senior leadership.

  • Significant responsibility for client relationships and engagement delivery.

  • Opportunities to contribute to business development.

  • A key role in mentoring and developing audit professionals.

  • Continued technical and leadership development.

  • Open paid-time-off policy.

  • 401(k) with employer matching and profit sharing.

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.

  • Company-paid life insurance.

  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance.

  • Nine paid holidays.
