Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking tutors to work with students during school, focusing on specific objectives and providing additional practice, guidance, and one-on-one attention in the Road to and Through College classrooms.

The position offers an hourly rate of $12.50 and requires 48 college credits with a 2.5 GPA or two years of full-time K-12 instructional experience. IDEA also provides a comprehensive benefits plan including paid family leave, tuition reimbursement, and mental health support.

Qualifications

• Education: minimum of 48 hours of college credit with a minimum 2.5 GPA OR two years of full-time instructional experience in a K-12 school may be substituted in lieu of the education requirement
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
• Knowledge of subject assigned
• Creative problem solving and team skills

Responsibilities

• Effective facilitation and use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage tasks
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives
• Help shape a school-wide culture that fosters a productive learning environment
• Establish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
• Determine concepts to teach from student notes and discussions
• Familiarize with RTTC Libraries and materials used by students
• Conduct tutorial sessions in math and science or language arts and humanities
• Conduct mini-lessons in writing and study skills and college preparation
• Support students in the writing process from brainstorming to editing
• Communicate progress with the College counseling team/teacher
• Host tutoring sessions to meet student needs
• Minimum of 10-20 hours spent at school per week
