Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is looking for full-time Next Step Advisers to support high school students across North Carolina through personalized advising on postsecondary pathways, including college, career, and military routes.

Advisers work with partner schools to develop plans, assist with applications for college, scholarships and financial aid, and help raise the college-going culture through presentations and events.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• Excellent writing, public speaking, and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work with students and adults in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist high school students with exploring postsecondary opportunities including college, career, or military paths.
• Support partner school departments to develop plans and help with college, scholarship, and financial aid applications.
• Lead campus visits, group presentations, and coordinated school events to boost college-going culture.
• Collaborate with counselors and advisers to reach out to students and families.
