Job summary

NC State University is seeking AmeriCorps Next Step Advisers to recruit recent graduates for high school posts across North Carolina. You will provide admissions and financial aid advising to students and families, and organize events to promote college pathways.

You will build relationships with principals and counselors, document interactions for program evaluation, and maintain expertise in admissions advising. Relocation to the service area is required for an 11‑month term.

Qualifications

• Earned or will earn an associate degree between May 2019 and June 2026; candidates must have an associate degree within seven years of applying to serve as an adviser.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience with youth or education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advising to students and families.
• Organize group events that encourage planning for postsecondary opportunities.
• Establish productive relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers at partner schools.
• Enhance visibility of the program through school and community outreach.
• Document and analyze student interactions to aid assessment and sustainability.
• Maintain expertise in admissions and financial aid advising.
