Job summary

Sodexo at Emory & Henry College is seeking a Cook I to prepare, portion, cook and present hot and cold items for all meals and events. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, uphold food safety and sanitation, and support team collaboration to deliver quality dining experiences.

Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or equivalent with 0–2 years’ related experience. Flexible shifts and full- or part-time opportunities are available at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards and guidelines to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving foods.
• Taste products, check production, and estimate food requirements to plan production.
• Significant walking or other movement may be required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds, sometimes 50 pounds.
• Work with a fast-paced kitchen team to uphold safety and cleanliness.
