Job summary

University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) is seeking an Assistant Manager of Collections to support the Solutions Manager in leading the Solutions team and delivering exceptional member experiences.

You will coach and develop team members, monitor delinquent and charged-off loans, and collaborate with external partners. This role emphasizes leadership, compliance, and process improvements within a community-focused credit union.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent required or 2+ years of management experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a financial institution preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist Solutions Manager with leadership responsibilities including selection, promotion, retention, coaching, and performance management.
• Assist in planning and managing all aspects of the Solutions department; perform duties of other team members as needed.
• Create an engaging team environment and promote member-centric service.
• Train, develop, and assess team members; lead team meetings and initiatives.
• Coordinate with attorneys, auto repossession agencies, collection agencies, and bankruptcy courts as needed.
• Collaborate with third-party mortgage providers to monitor delinquent accounts and evaluate loss mitigation options.
• Communicate with other departments to enhance member service and implement improvements.
