Energy Capital Credit Union in the Houston area is seeking a Collections Manager to lead a hands-on collections team. This leadership role requires expertise in collections, strong staff development, and a focus on protecting the credit union while delivering respectful member service.

You will oversee delinquent accounts, monitor payment promises, and coordinate with members on settlements, modifications, and legal collections activity.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of collections experience in a bank or credit union preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
• Hands-on collections and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with repossessions, bankruptcies, charge-offs, and loss mitigation.
• Ability to lead a team, drive results, and provide strong member service.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, coach, and manage the collections team.
• Manage delinquent accounts and work with members to bring accounts current.
• Monitor promises to pay and ensure timely follow-up.
• Handle escalated accounts, member concerns, loan modifications, and settlement offers.
• Manage repossessions, recovery efforts, and disposal of repossessed collateral.
• Oversee charge-offs, negative shares, and loss mitigation efforts.
• Coordinate bankruptcy, foreclosure, judgments, and other legal collection activity.
• Manage third-party collection and recovery vendors.
• Monitor delinquency and charge-off ratios and identify trends.
• Prepare management reporting and lead the monthly Delinquency Committee Meeting.
• Identify underwriting trends contributing to delinquency or losses.
• Recommend process and policy improvements to strengthen collection efforts.
• Ensure compliance with FDCPA, BSA, OFAC, and credit union policies.
