First Commerce Credit Union is seeking a strategic Collections Manager to lead the Collections Department, balancing regulatory compliance with member-focused solutions. The role encompasses strategy, operations, and performance management to strengthen financial well-being for members.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in collections with 3+ years in leadership, knowledge of secured/unsecured lending, and strong data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible collections or default management experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience managing teams and driving performance.
• Experience with secured and unsecured consumer lending collections; real estate and commercial loan collections a plus.
• Strong understanding of collections regulations, bankruptcy processes, loss mitigation strategies, and recovery practices.
• Proven ability to analyze financial and operational data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategy, operations, and performance of the Collections Department, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing collections team focused on reducing delinquency and losses.
• Direct collection operations, including extensions, modifications, repossessions, bankruptcies, and recovery efforts.
• Develop and execute strategies to drive portfolio performance while preserving member relationships.
• Analyze department performance, delinquency trends, and loss metrics to identify opportunities.
• Partner with Lending, Finance, Member Service, and leadership to achieve goals.
• Manage third-party agencies and service providers to maximize recovery outcomes.
• Prepare and present performance reports and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
