Job summary

Ashland Credit Union (ACU) in Ashland, Kentucky, is seeking a Collection Specialist to join our Collection Department. The role focuses on contacting members with delinquent accounts, developing plans to bring accounts current, and documenting all communications.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong phone skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST with occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Ability to discuss financial situations with a member over the phone.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office apps.
• Must be available to work Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. EST with occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Position Summary:

ACU has an exciting opportunity for a Collection Specialist to join our CollectionDepartment in Ashland, Kentucky. This position is .....

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Ashland
Credit Union (ACU) in living out its mission of “embolden our
members to reach higher, achieve more, and take control of
their financial future.” A key component to this is providing
outstanding service to both internal and external members.
This position will be responsible for engaging and interacting
with members who are experiencing financial difficulty as
well as administrative duties within the collection
department.

Job Responsibilities:

1. 1. Contact members following prescribed Collection strategy by phone, text,
   email, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current.
   Track and follow up on member commitments.
2. 2. Update files and system accounts via the credit union’s delinquent loan
   recovery system. Maintaining a detailed written record of all
   communications with members and following up with members to ensure
   quality member service.
3. 3. Perform account research as needed.
4. 4. Review delinquent accounts for financial assistance programs, reaching out
   to members with options and make recommendations to the Collection
   Manager.
5. 5. Assist in repossession and foreclosure management, creating required
   letters and referring repossession agents and legal counsel as needed.
6. 6. Other duties as requested by the President, EVP, Chief Risk Officer, or
   Collection Manager.

Education & Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to discuss financial situations with a member over the phone
• Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and occasional evenings and Saturday
