Job summary

Ashland Credit Union in Ashland, KY, is seeking a Collection Specialist to join our Collection Department. The role focuses on engaging with members in financial difficulty and providing outstanding service to help them bring accounts current.

You will contact members by phone, text, email, and mail, review delinquent accounts, and assist in repayment plans, with standard hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and occasional evenings and Saturdays. High School Diploma required.

Qualifications

• Ability to discuss financial situations with a member over the phone.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and related tools.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and occasional evenings and Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Contact members following prescribed Collection strategy by phone, text, email, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current.
• Update files and system accounts via the credit union’s delinquent loan recovery system and maintain detailed communications records.
• Perform account research as needed.
• Review delinquent accounts for financial assistance programs and make recommendations to the Collection Manager.
• Assist in repossession and foreclosure management and coordinate with agents and counsel as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested by leadership.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Ashland
Credit Union (ACU) in living out its mission of “embolden our
members to reach higher, achieve more, and take control of
their financial future.” A key component to this is providing
outstanding service to both internal and external members.
This position will be responsible for engaging and interacting
with members who are experiencing financial difficulty as
well as administrative duties within the collection
department.

Job Responsibilities:

• 1. Contact members following prescribed Collection strategy by phone, text, email, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current. Track and follow up on member commitments.
• 2. Update files and system accounts via the credit union’s delinquent loan recovery system. Maintaining a detailed written record of all communications with members and following up with members to ensure quality member service.
• 3. Perform account research as needed.
• 4. Review delinquent accounts for financial assistance programs, reaching out to members with options and make recommendations to the Collection Manager.
• 5. Assist in repossession and foreclosure management, creating required letters and referring repossession agents and legal counsel as needed.
• 6. Other duties as requested by the President, EVP, Chief Risk Officer, or Collection Manager.

Education & Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent
