Job summary

Bilstein Cold Rolled Steel Lp. is seeking a Cold Rolling Mill Operator in Bowling Green, KY. The role requires operating, maintaining, and monitoring the cold rolling and temper mill to reduce thickness and achieve specified surface finishes on steel coils.

You will collaborate with the Cold Rolling Team Leader, load and position coils, adjust roll speed and process controls, and ensure product conformance for downstream annealing or delivery. The position is full-time and on-site.

Responsibilities

• Reading production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences and reduction patterns.
• Starting conveyors to load steel coils and signaling crane operators to move coils to the required position.
• Positioning steel coils on conveyors or mandrels using crane, chain hoists or grabs.
• Monitoring process information during rolling, including thickness and surface quality to meet specifications.
• Rewinding and inspecting coils after the cold mill operation and placing suspect material on hold for quality checks.
• Recording data from operator screens for QA and adjusting controls to maintain roll speed and mill settings.
• Directing and training workers to change rolls, operate mill equipment and load material.
• Signaling crane operators to deposit finished coils and ensure traceability through labeling.
• Instructing new workers in rolling mill operation and coordinating with annealing and roll shop teams.
