Job summary

Valmont Industries in Nebraska is seeking a Looper Operator to maintain a steady material supply to the tube mill. You will use a 30-ton crane to move heavy coils, weld coil ends, and feed materials through the mic miller into the mill for continuous production.

Essential duties include adjusting mill setups for coil sizes, tracking inventory, and assisting other operators to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and operating a mic miller 252 manual welder.
• Ability to read, write, and keep accurate records.
• Proficiency with decimals and fractions and unit conversions.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification or ability to obtain.
• Strong spatial awareness for safe heavy equipment operation.
• Basic math to track material usage and inventory.
• Organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality and safe production.

Responsibilities

• Weld coils to ensure continuous material flow from uncoiler to mill.
• Operate a 30-ton overhead crane to move heavy coils to the mill.
• Connect steel ends with welding to feed coils into the mill.
• Adjust mill setup for different coil sizes and coordinate with material handlers.
• Monitor inventory and maintain daily records of materials used.
• Support mill and cutoff operators to maintain production efficiency.
• Communicate with teammates to resolve material flow issues.
• Perform general maintenance and keep the work area clean and safe.
• Ensure welded coils meet customer specifications through inspections.
