Job summary

Valmont Industries seeks an End Prep Operator in Valley, Nebraska to deburr steel tubes (I.D. and O.D.), visually inspect for defects, and verify lengths match customer specs.

You will run tools like rotary files, grinders, and straighteners, while maintaining a clean, safe work area and coordinating with inspectors and bundlers to control tube flow. Ideal candidates read a tape measure, follow safety protocols, and can lift and handle materials.

Qualifications

• Able to read and write legibly for documentation and communication.
• Proficient in reading a tape measure with fractions.
• Experience operating air and electric-powered hand tools such as grinders or rotary files.
• Strong communication to coordinate with team members and inspectors.
• Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods (about 95% of shift).
• Follows safety protocols and demonstrates attention to quality and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Operate rotary file, bay flex grinder and other tools to deburr I.D. and O.D. of steel tubes.
• Visually inspect tubes for mill marks, straightness, dents and defects to meet quality standards.
• Operate groover, straightener and oiler machines to produce tubing of required quality.
• Roll tubes across a rack to the straightener with proper alignment.
• Measure tubes with tape measures or other tools to meet specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety policies.
• Collaborate with team members, bundlers and inspectors to ensure smooth tube flow and proper setups.
• Assist with tube setups on the mill when changing sizes and occasionally use a dial indicator for tolerance checks.
