Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Coding Educator to lead education on CPT/ICD-10, HCPCS and coding guidelines across specialties. You will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate education for coding teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, active certification (CCS/COC/RHIA/RHIT or CPC), and prior experience in coding education and training, with offshore capabilities. You will develop programs, ensure QA standards, and collaborate with Coding Leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Certified coder credentials: CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT, or CPC.
• Experience in production coding, auditing, coder education and training, or coding leadership.
• Specialty experience: Ancillary, Surgical, Emergency Medicine, Evaluation & Management.
• Strong communication and data presentation skills; ability to guide and motivate teams.

Responsibilities

• Audit, educate, and monitor coders for E/M levels, procedures, and diagnosis coding (CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS).
• Provide support to provider education as needed.
• Collaborate with Coding Leadership to identify education needs for production coders.
• Develop, administer, implement and update focused and continuing coding education programs and materials.
• Ensure Auditor production standards, QA requirements, and auditing guidelines are met.
• Provide constructive review and feedback to develop instructional materials (course plans, objectives, evaluation tools).
• Support training of onshore and offshore coders on CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS.

Role Overview

As our Coding Educator you will help ensure our coding teams have access to your subject matter expertise on coding guidelines and regulations for a variety of clinical specialties. Every day you will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate education and training for coding teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit, educate, and monitor coders for E/M levels, procedures, and diagnosis coding to include CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS.
• Provide support to provider education as needed.
• Work with Coding Leadership to identify areas where focused education may be needed for production coders.
• Develop, administer, implement and update focused and continuing coding education programs and materials for coding associates.
• Ensure Auditor production standards, QA requirements, and compliance with Auditing philosophies and guidelines are met.
• Provide constructive review and feedback to assist in the development of instructional materials to include course plans, objectives, and evaluation tools.
• Experience training onshore and offshore coders on CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS.

Required Skills

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Required certification (one or more): CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT, or CPC.
• Prior work experience in production coding, auditing, coder education and training, or coding leadership where you developed coding, quality review, and training skills.
• Specialty experience: Ancillary, Surgical, Emergency Medicine, Evaluation & Management.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to provide guidance and corrective action while maintaining a motivating environment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite to prepare and present training materials, communicate feedback and recommendations, and report and analyze data.

Location & Employment

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $28.24 - $40.21 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
