Job summary

OneOncology is seeking a results‑driven RCM Coding Education Specialist to design, deliver, and evaluate provider‑focused coding and documentation education.

You will translate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS changes into practical training, coach physicians, analyze audit results, and collaborate with compliance and revenue cycle teams.

A CPC or CCS credential and strong communication skills are required, with experience in medical coding education and EHR/coding software.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years healthcare coding, charge capture, compliance, auditing, or provider education experience.
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of provider documentation requirements and regulatory compliance standards.
  • CPC or CCS credential.
  • Experience with EHR and coding/billing software.

  • Support compliance efforts through coding audits, corrective action plans, and ongoing provider education.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for coding, documentation, and reimbursement-related questions.

Job Description:

Role Summary: The RCM Coding Education Specialist will report to the Manager, Coding. This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating provider-focused coding and documentation education programs that promote accurate clinical documentation, compliant coding practices, and optimal charge capture. This position serves as a subject matter expert in professional fee coding, documentation guidelines, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices while fostering a culture of continuous learning and documentation excellence across the organization.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of healthcare coding, charge capture, compliance, auditing, or provider education experience.
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of provider documentation requirements, medical necessity, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential.
  • Previous experience supporting physician coding education, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), or provider engagement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with professional fee coding, E/M coding guidelines, and Urology/Oncology-specific coding requirements.
  • Experience assisting with coding audits, monitoring, and education program development.
  • Knowledge of payer policies, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance regulations.
  • Experience developing educational materials, tip sheets, presentations, or provider communications.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and coding/billing software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
