Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Coding Educator to lead education and training for coding teams across ancillary, surgical, ED, and E/M coding. You will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate education initiatives, with emphasis on coder education, auditing, and leadership.

The role requires prior success in coder education and knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS. Base pay is competitive for a US-based position, with opportunities to develop instructional materials and training programs for worldwide

Responsibilities

• Audit, educate, and monitor coders for E/M levels, procedures, and diagnosis coding (CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS).
• Develop and update focused coding education programs and materials for coders.
• Ensure QA standards and auditing guidelines are followed; provide feedback to improve training materials.
• Train onshore and offshore coders on CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS.

As our Coding Educator you will help ensure our coding teams have access to your subject matter expertise on coding guidelines and regulations for a variety of clinical specialties. Every day you will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate education and training for coding teams. To thrive in this role, you must demonstrate previous s uccess in coder education, auditing, or management, as well as comprehensive knowledge of ancillary, surgical, emergency department, and E/M coding.

Here's what you will experience working as a Coding Educator:

• Audit, educate, and monitor coders for E/M levels, procedures, and diagnosis coding to include CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS; provide support to provider education as needed
• Work with Coding Leadership to identify areas where focused education may be needed for production coders; develop, administer, implement and update focused and continuing coding education programs and materials for coding associates
• Ensure Auditor production standards, QA requirements, and compliance with Auditing philosophies and guidelines are met
• Provide constructive review and feedback to assist in the development of instructional materials to include course plans, objectives, and evaluation tools.
• Experience training onshore and offshore coders on CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS.

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $28.24 - $40.21 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Required Skills:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Required certification (one or more): CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT, or CPC
• Prior work experience in production coding, auditing, coder education and training, or coding leadership where you developed coding, quality review, and training skills
• Specialty experience: Ancillary, Surgical, Emergency Medicine, Evaluation & Management Coding
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to provide guidance and corrective action while maintaining a motivating environment
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite to prepare and present training materials, communicate feedback and recommendations, and report and analyze data
