Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer II to investigate and enforce city codes across multiple jurisdictions. You will perform inspections, coordinate with property owners, and prepare cases for enforcement.

This role requires knowledge of codes, a Texas driver’s license, and a state Code Enforcement Officer certificate. Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is required; the city offers competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of heavy customer service experience, with at least 6 months in enforcing codes/ordinances and issuing citations.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
• Code Enforcement Officer certification issued by TDLR.
• If certified by another state, must obtain Texas certification within 6 months of probation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed property inspections to ensure compliance with codes.
• Investigate, identify, and address violations; coordinate with authorities for inspections.
• Educate property owners, developers, and businesses on code requirements.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare reports/evidence for enforcement actions.
• Provide testimony in court cases related to code violations.
• Operate city vehicles to conduct inspections citywide.
• Stay current with changes in codes and enforcement techniques.
