Job summary

Dallas City Hall is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer III (Code Compliance) for the day shift within Civil Service. The role involves specialized inspections and enforcement of municipal codes in Dallas city limits.

The incumbent will inspect complex projects, issue notices and citations, educate the public, draft reports, and train junior staff. A valid Texas driver’s license and a current TDLR code enforcement license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of experience interpreting and enforcing codes/ordinances, investigating code violations and/or issuing citations.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Current Texas Code Enforcement Officer license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Responsibilities

• Conducts specialized inspections to ensure compliance with municipal codes.
• Identify non-compliant concerns and coordinate corrective action with involved parties.
• Investigate violations and track corrective actions; gather evidence and document findings.
• Issue notices of violation and citations; respond to citizen complaints.
• Educate the public, developers, and staff on laws and code standards.
• Draft, maintain, and edit inspection documents and service requests.
• Oversee and train lower-level officers; provide quality control.
• Travel citywide for inspections; testify in hearings and trials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
