The City of Dallas is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer I to inspect city properties, enforce municipal codes, and review license and permit applications. This role involves conducting inspections, documenting violations, and coordinating with developers and the public to maintain standards.

Inspects and enforces one or more of the functional areas: city codes, construction, sanitation, environmental, street & sewer, water quality codes or ordinances and reviews applications for licenses and permits.
The Code Enforcement Officer I investigates, inspects, and enforces municipal, land development, and property maintenance codes within city boundaries. Schedules and performs systematic property maintenance inspections to maintain or achieve minimum property standards.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of heavy citizen/customer service contact resolving complaints and/or conflicts, service and/or billing disputes.
EQUIVALENCY: A current Code Enforcement Officer Trainee certification (or higher) issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) will meet the education and experience requirements.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Must obtain certification as a Code Enforcement Officer Trainee issued by TDLR within probationary period.
Availability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. This position requires an ONLINE exam that covers the following categories: Reading Comprehension Applying Policies Sentence Clarity Business Correspondence Spelling
Salary Range $22.32 - $24.56 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
