Job summary

City of Great Falls is seeking a municipal code enforcement professional responsible for enforcing building codes and ordinances with respect for private property. The role reports to the Neighborhood Council/Code Compliance Manager and involves field inspections, complaint investigations, and preparation of reports.

Requirements include a high school diploma and at least three years in building inspection or code enforcement, plus a Montana driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement or related field.
• Strong knowledge of municipal codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Receive and investigate complaints of property maintenance violations and cited code violations.
• Maintain files and prepare reports, memoranda and correspondence.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to verify compliance and issue citations if needed.
• Coordinate with Building Safety and Fire Prevention Divisions to classify properties.
• Prepare and present abatements or condemnations for City Commission approval.
• Prepare and deliver agendas for City Commission as needed.
