Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and extensive experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry certification as Building Official Limited.
• Valid driver’s license in the State of Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and corrects building plans and proposals for compliance with codes and ordinances; maintains inspection records.
• Analyses plans for construction problems and advises on methods and materials.
• Plans and conducts reviews of building sites and determines suitability of methods and materials.
• Reviews building permit applications, verifies information, and issues permits.
• Inspects sites during construction and upon completion; verifies codes compliance and issues Certificates of Occupancy.
• Assists in zoning enforcement, prepares citations, and participates in related court proceedings.
