Job summary

Peraton is seeking a COBOL Software Developer, Advisor to join the Health State and Local Sector and support the Medicare DME claims system. The role emphasizes design, coding, testing, and mentoring within an Agile team.

You will be a principal technical contributor, interfacing with clients and vendors while delivering high-quality maintenance and development work in a structured mainframe environment.

Qualifications

• Education and experience aligned to mainframe development.
• Proven experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, TS0 and VSAM.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM and SAFe frameworks.
• Clear communication and client-facing writing ability.
• Understanding of Medicare DME or CMS contracts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, unit test, and debug complex enhancements in the Medicare health claims system.
• Lead technical design sessions and drive component implementation.
• Provide maintenance and development solutions with high quality.
• Mentor developers and communicate with clients and vendors.
• Provide accurate estimates and support sprint planning.
