Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. is hiring a Coax Splicer in Kingsport, TN. You will perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks both aerial and underground, test and troubleshoot equipment after installation, and ensure all work meets industry standards.

The role requires a valid US work authorization, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a DOT physical to obtain a medical card. Prior coax splicing or telecom experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six months coax splicing experience or one year telecom industry experience.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a DOT physical exam to obtain a medical card.

Responsibilities

  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.

What You’ll Do
  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standardsWhat You’ll Need
    • To be 18 years of age or older
    • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
    • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
    • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
    • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
    Additional Qualifications
    • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
    Physical Abilities & Exposures
    • Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
    • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
