Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. is seeking a Coax Splicer to join our telecommunications installation team. You will perform coax upgrades and splicing both above ground and underground, ensuring reliable service for our clients.

You will test and activate equipment after installation, document work in daily reports, and maintain safety with height work and DOT medical requirements. Prior splicing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Six months coax splicing experience or one year in telecom.
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States.
  • DOT medical exam with valid medical card.
  • Driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Certified pole climber (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
  • Safely navigate working at heights, from underground to in the air.
  • Document work through daily production reports and map/material usage records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do
  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
Additional qualifications
  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
