Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. seeks a Coax Splicer to perform cable upgrades and splicing for telecom networks, both aerial and underground. You’ll test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.

The role requires 18+, US work authorization, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and ability to pass a DOT medical exam. Training is provided and safety is prioritized.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Valid State driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• DOT medical card required.
• Six months coax splicing experience or one year in telecoms.

Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles and document daily work.
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including maps and material usage records.
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Do

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Additional Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
