Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead coatings inspection at industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep and cure with sign-off authority, and perform adhesion/holiday testing, writing reports trusted by owners and engineers.

The role requires CIP Level 2 certification, 2+ years of experience, and ability to stop out-of-spec work. Travel to active sites is expected, with leadership over Level 1 staff on larger jobs.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification required and current.
• 2+ years of inspection experience under CIP Level 2.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coatings.
• Ability to stop an out-of-specification application and document it.

Responsibilities

• Plan hold points and testing from coating spec and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface prep, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
• Disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Represent the inspection program to owner and applicator.
