Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead coating and lining inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application, cure, perform adhesion/holiday testing, and write reports relied on by owners and engineers.

Level 2 CIP certification with 2+ years’ experience and SSPC/NACE standards knowledge are required. Expect travel to project sites; supervision of Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer's data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
• Disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
