Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, and document coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, 1+ year experience, and comfort working around blasting and spray operations; travel and varied shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required.
• At least 1+ year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Careful with instruments, readings, and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the data sheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
